About us
Company story
Our name is a statement about method as much as about craft. A cabinet run that is 20 mm too deep ruins a kitchen. A table that is 30 mm too wide makes a dining room unusable. Fitting is not a detail — it is the whole difference between woodwork that belongs in a space and woodwork that was merely put there.
That is why we start with the room: its measurements, its light, its doors and windows, and how you actually move through it. Only then do we talk about timber, finishes and hardware.

Our values
Six principles that decide how we measure, what we build and how we leave a site.
Most woodwork problems start with a measurement that was guessed. We measure properly, every time, and check again before cutting.
Timber is chosen for where the piece will live and how it will be used — not simply for what is in stock that week.
You get a written scope and a clear price before work starts. If something changes, you hear it from us first.
We protect your floors, keep the work area manageable and leave the space clean when the job is done.
Where a piece can be repaired and kept in use, that is almost always the better answer — for you and for the timber.
We build for Freetown homes and businesses, and we are reachable when you need us after the job is finished.
Quality in woodwork is structural before it is visual. We use joinery that carries load properly, fixings that will not work loose, and hardware rated for daily use rather than for a showroom. The finish is the last layer, not the first consideration.
That is also why we build to be repaired. A table with a sound frame and a replaceable top can be with you for decades. A glued-and-chipped flat-pack unit cannot.
The most sustainable piece of furniture is the one that already exists. Our repairs and restoration service exists for that reason: rebuilding a sound frame or replacing a failed board is almost always better than starting again.
On new work we aim to use well-seasoned, responsibly sourced timber and to avoid over-ordering, because offcuts and waste are the least sustainable part of any workshop.
Quality in practice
Joinery and finishes chosen to hold up to daily use, not to look good on delivery day.
Timber and hardware selected for the job, the room and how the piece will actually be used.
Measured to your room. Nothing is a stock size, and nothing is designed to sit awkwardly.
Repairable construction and responsible timber choices, so good work stays in use longer.
You get a clear scope, a clear price and no surprises halfway through the job.
Tidy working, protected floors and a clean handover when the work is finished.
We would rather repair a good piece than replace it, and we build to be repaired.
Agreed milestones, realistic timing and updates if anything changes.
The team
Fits Woodwork & Designs is based on City Road in Wellington, Freetown, and works across the city and beyond. Jobs are handled by the same people from the first measurement through to handover, so the person who promised the work is the person who delivers it.
